How we got started selling online and how you can too....
I have been wanting to write this blog for years now, but always find something else that gets prioritized above it....anyway, here goes...
When COVID hit and lockdown forced us to close our retail bricks and mortar shops, we had no choice but to make the digital pivot and learn to sell online. It was either that or shut down the business, so we chose to start selling online and have never looked back....
We have been actively growing our business since then and are a thriving online jewellery business now. We sell on multiple marketplaces as well as our own website, and are in the top 1% of all sellers on Etsy.
I see many other small artisanal businesses struggling to get online either because they are a new business not knowing where to begin or how to start selling online or a more traditional business with physical stores struggling to make the move and sell online. I want to start helping other businesses in these situations to do the following:
- Determine if your product(s) are sellable online and if it is a viable online business
- Determine your USP so it can be exploited online
- Determine what the best route to market is online
- Determine what is the best platform to get started
- Work out your online business model
- Get your business up and running on the chose platform(s)
I see so many individuals and companies touting for business pitching to help these other small businesses but I fear most of them have not even had their own business. I have see anywhere from online marketing agencies or so called Etsy consultants (like Amazon consultants but focused on Etsy) but they have never even sold on Etsy! How can you entrust your business's future to someone that has no proven track record in selling online?
I am convinced that Jason (my husband and business partner) are exceptionally well positioned to help any small business get up and running online. We have done so with a very good friend of ours (also a small business owner) and he is flourishing online. He is now a top Etsy seller and we know we can do the same for you.
